The effectiveness of cable shields against capacitive and inductive electromagnetic coupling depends strongly on the contact quality of the shield connection. The shield connection terminal blocks SK offer a wide, low-impedance connection of the shield.
An outstanding feature of the shield connection terminal blocks from Phoenix Contact is their user friendliness.
Depending on the length of the terminal strip, two or more AB-SK mounting brackets are placed at each end of the bus bar which is electrically and mechanically connected to the Din mounting rail through these supports. After the connections are made to the terminal blocks on the DIN rail, the shield terminal block is mounted by simply swinging the SK terminal block onto the busbar.
The force exerted on the cable is regulated by a spring-loaded pressure plate, thereby ensuring an optimum contact to the busbar at all times. The cable shield can be isolated through the use of the AB/SS supports. When using the isolated AB/SS mounting bracket for the bus bar, single point grounding can be achieved by using the AK block to make the connection.
